Legend is that Fuji is female, or at least of a female spirit.

“Ah…Mistletoe”
frosty mistletoe
high in the sycamore tree
visions of red lips
snowy river flows
neath the frozen mistletoe
thoughts of warm kisses
gray winter shadows
lovers sharing winter’s breath
spy the mistletoe

October 20, 2010 “all by myself”
“all by myself”
*
everyday time spent
too much in a misty cloud
in a cool vapor
dreaming of oneness
a single face in a crowd
unable to fly
dying to stand out
to be worthy of my wings
dying to take flight
falling from the cloud
sweet hope eternally springs
I can learn to fly
alone from this cloud
into a far distant night
all by myself

my eyes open without thought

September 28, 2010 “dance of the marionettes”
“dance of the marionettes”
*****
passion’s heat rising
she eyes with wanton desire
he has no defense
*
his heart fills his mind
with uncontrollable need
yet she stands aloof
*
coyly speaks his name
sweetly dripping from her lips
blushing at the thought
*
hearing her soft voice
whispering from far away
drawing him to her
*
puppet on a string
moving only by her whim
love’s marionette
*
pulling him closer
trembling tension in her skin
strings tightly singing
*
wanting in her eyes
not a puppet but a man
strings now are binding
*
tangled in a web
one of her own creation
she cuts loose his cords
*
puppet no longer
his heart bound by her heartstrings
her lover still hers
*
eyes closed lips kissing
dance of the marionettes
strings fall to the ground
*
their wooden limbs freed
lovers splashing together
in liquid passion

distant thunder rolls
o’er painted misty mountains
reds, golds, and yellows
dance in muted light

cacophonous crescendo
autumn rain falling

August 30, 2010 “Mountain-Stream”
“mountain-stream”
side by side they stood
under the reddening leaves
by dancing waters
over the mossy stones
mountain stream lightly lilting
heart’s rhythm playing
tunes of the forest
as old as the granite earth
wrought for two lovers
neath the blue fall sky
love eternal forged in hearts
deep as mountain roots
she, his dancing stream
he, her granite mountain cleft
theirs, love eternal

night’s sultry veil surrounding
love’s light shadowing

oily night darkly dripping
love’s light not dimming

though dark night grows heavier
love makes all lighter

” – she, – her”
life is for nothing
when summer sun bares my soul
and she not near me
seconds eternal
cherry withers on the branch
if she won’t hear me
all light is darkness
summer moon shines not for fear
with her far away
my soul is rended
icy winter’s prisoner
she the sunlight of my day

July 11, 2010 “Haiku? Or…?”
Haiku for You
When I think of You
My heart leaps within my chest…
My dreams coming true.
When I look at you
Springtime blossoms in my heart;
I see my future.
When I hear your voice
Birds sing love songs to my soul…
At last I am whole.

Lights on me,
Bringing me good luck.

Red, like roses,
Fragrant, as my eye closes…
Dream’s eye supposes.

July 9, 2010 “Poet’s Song”
“Poet’s Song”
Poet’s muse haunts him
Words come like flowing waters
Pen scratches form lines
Ink pours from fountain
Captive fingers seek their voice
Crying to be heard
Rhyme is for reason
Time is for the telling tune
Hearts for the hearing
Poetry written
Word songs singing his story
Heartbeats on paper

July 2, 2010 “New Dawn”
July 2, 2010 “New Dawn”
Misunderstandings
Common prides and dignities
Laid bare to the sun
No one else can see
Into our tinted glass house
Still the sun burns through
Our eyes filled with tears
Can’t see through watery veil
Sun shines through the glass
Words become painful
Pain that was not intended
Yellow sun blinding
Two hearts are breaking
Each one for the others sake
Sunlight still shining
Each heart needs its mate
Without it each stands bleeding
Sunshine now dimming
Darkness brings weeping
Tears soften lips for kissing
Sun shines from within
Two loves grow sanguine
Two mated hearts, bleeding love
Sun rises…New Dawn
