March 20, 2010 “Work Shoes”
Work shoes can say a lot about what a person does. I don’t mean to sound like Forrest Gump’s momma, but it’s true; you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes. The photo below is of my work shoes; mine have composite toes caps in them for safety.
I work all day on a concrete floor, so my shoes have good soles. Our shoes become a part of us when they really fit well. My friend, Tony Cradic, recently wrote a very good piece about some old, favorite shoes at his blog, tonyctoday
. I have a pair or two that I can’t seem to part with…they just feel good on my feet, they’re comfortable, like an old friend. I can go for a year without wearing them, but when I put them on it’s just like old times. Suddenly I’m back on the court or the trail…shoes can make good memories if we just go where they can take us. My work shoes, on the other hand, serve only to remind me that I have to get up tomorrow and do it all over again…I miss my old friends.
