My Irritations, Aggravations and Inspirations

April 17, 2010 “Orange and White Day”

April 17, 2010  “Orange and White Day”
Today was the annual “Orange and White Day” at the University of Tennessee.  The day that all the faithful fans come out to see the Vols for the first time this season.  They get to sit in little groups all around the stadium and analyze, discuss, criticize, surmise, certify, quantify, vilify, glorify, and testify with the voices, ooohs, ahs, and opinions of nearly 36,000 of the Vol Nation at what is, essentially, nothing more than a practice session.  I had no clue about any of the players or coaches or strategies…I was there because it was something fun to do on a nice spring day.
I went down to the game with a group of old and new friends on a chartered bus.  This wasn’t too bad a way to go, the bus took us, ostensibly, from door to door; no driving down, no parking nightmares, and no driving back, plus the company of lots of fun people.
The day was beautiful with blue sky and fluffy, rolling clouds that would try, from time to time and early on, to form up into a menacing mob and threaten us with rain, but they were quickly dispersed by the sun and a cool spring breeze and quietly meandered on their way.
I’m glad I chose to go, and got to go with the folks I went with, that made all the difference.
I have included a few photos from today, nothing too great, but they’ll do.
