My Irritations, Aggravations and Inspirations

April 28, 2010   “Love”
The following was written a few years ago, and has been kept it my private papers ever since.  I’m trying to be a bit more open and personal with all five of my readers, so as to make a better connection with them.
Love is always fleeting, and staying just out of reach of the hands that would hold it, when those hands are grasping and groping in the darkness of a life without love.
Love is a mystery, for it always comes when it is unlooked for.  Invariably it arrives unexpectedly like some serendipity.  It comes in such simple ways; when two sets of eyes, lonely and empty, meet in a glance  across a room. Or, in a word which falls on stopped ears as clearly and profoundly as an epiphany .
Love makes us see everything in a brighter light, and better, but still have eyes for only one.
Love lets us hear a symphony in a whisper, and a heartbeat in a hurricane.
Love takes us to the highest heights of joy and pleasure, and it brings us down to deepest depths of pain and sorrow that, seemingly, only death can quell.
Love is what makes us, and it is what breaks us.  It starves us, it feeds us.  In it we are both, lost and found, afraid and comforted.
When you have love, or it has you, you have everything…all else pales and fades into trivia while life is consumed and spent without reservation or regret.
