My Irritations, Aggravations and Inspirations

May 4, 2010   “When She Leaves”

This is a glimpse into my not so distant past.  It’s just something I wrote at a crossroads in my life when things were not feeling good at all.  I am, again, trying to reveal some different parts of me for the purpose of learning to write honestly and openly.  It’s not much, but nonetheless here it is…

“When She Leaves”

The thoughts of her swirl in my head like leaves in a whirlwind, flying and fleeing before my eyes, hard to catch; blinding and beautiful, confusing, and at times dizzying.
I watch the leaves blow and spin through my mind until, unable to stand, I fall to my knees, helpless, and at her mercy, but she is merciless.
She draws my love like blood from a dying man until all the life is gone.  Then, she smiles or touches me and I am revived!  But, I am only brought back on her whim.
She watches as I stand, confused and blinded by the whirlwind, grasping at the leaves, struggling to capture my thoughts.  She laughs as she turns her back and, without a word…blows away.

  2. Larry King once said, “Good writers are in the business of leaving signposts saying, Tour my world, see and feel it through my eyes; I am your guide.” He must have read your blog 🙂

Mr. Harris, This is beautiful work. I think you must have a gentlemen’s heart.
