My Irritations, Aggravations and Inspirations

July 29, 2010

” – she, – her”

life is for nothing
when summer sun bares my soul
and she not near me

seconds eternal
cherry withers on the branch
if she won’t hear me

all light is darkness
summer moon shines not for fear
with her far away

my soul is rended
icy winter’s prisoner
she the sunlight of my day

    • I truly wish no one had to understand these words…but nearly everyone does. I find it hard to write contrived poetry, I rarely do it, I almost always write my heart on the page; good or bad it’s who I am and what I feel…this is a piece of my heart.

      Love always,

  3. Lovely! My favorite part is

    my soul is rended
    icy winter’s prisoner
she the sunlight of my day

This is very visual and touching.

    • Thank you. This was not an easy poem to put together trying to stay true as possible to Haiku…for me anyway 🙂

      Thanks for reading.

A touching poem. I wonder what it is about recent days that seems to be bringing out the degrees of sadness and longing in the poems of yours and others that I have been reading. At first thought, I was surprised to see you use the word cherry, considering it is not your favorite fruit, but then on second thought, if you equate it with withering and things lost, it is understandable. I wish you a warm and healing day today.

    • Cindy,
Thank you for reading, and for the insightful comment. You remember about the cherry :)…not my favorite. I used the cherry for form in the poem. The sadness and longing…short answer? I write from my heart.
Thank you so much for coming by, you are among my favorites.

  6. Time is a real strange thing.. it seems to fly when you’re with your beloved.. but seems like a REAL drag when not!
    I hear you, Tracy…
The sadness clearly shows in there!

  8. These feelings are all too familiar. Lovely poem. My favorite line is “she the sunlight of my day.” There is so much love in that.
