flood

from a thousand places

a storm traces its way into a river

heavy clouds of darkness bursting

weeping torrents

sweeping

pieces of lives and lives in pieces

torn and tumbling between the groaning banks

to be thrown back into the boiling fray

water rushing under too many bridges

in time

soon lost and too far away

in the turmoil flowing

away

away

while life stands still in the rain

Reblogged this on Black Door Press and commented:
Tracy Harris is a dear poetry friend of mine who writes amazing poetry. Here in our little corner of WP, so many of us are troubled or in pain in some way and this poem just spoke to me of how our lives can flood and tumble out of our control sometimes yet it seems as if we are standing still. I thought I’d share.

  3. When this feeling is most common in my life, someone is nearby saying “Happy Birthday.”

    As if.
